How We Teach Maths

We endeavour to make maths fun, relevant and engaging. All children should enjoy success at maths in fluency, problem solving and challenges set, making good progress whatever their starting point. Work is differentiated, appropriate and enables children to progress in their learning. Fun is most definitely had through TTRockstars, especially with the competitions we hold - it's a great excuse to dress as rockstars and dance around to music whilst learning our times tables!
EYFS use 'Development Matters in Early Years'
Reception are early adopters of the new curriculum changes, due to be rolled out 2021-22.
Year 1 - 6 follow the National Curriculum 2013
To support learning, we use White Rose Maths, Abacus, NCETM, TTRockstars and Numbots, nrich and Maths of the Day, a resource which combines fun, physical activity alongside mathematical understanding and learning.
Year 4 take the Multiplication Tables Check. To help, your children need to know the following:
Year 2 - 2x, 5x and 10x tables
Year 3 - 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x and 10x tables
Year 4 - all times tables from 1x - 12x
Year 2 and Year 6 have SATs tests in May.
We want the children to love maths. We also want them to see maths in the wider world. You can help too; counting steps, balls, toys; playing games; baking; shopping; looking at times of T.V. programmes/cinema etc. Together, we want our children to do the best they can.
