At Oak Primary, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond to safeguard the children who attend our school, our staff and any visitors that may be with us.

Safeguarding is a wide topic.  Some areas that we consider and work with on a daily basis are child protection, attendance, the prevent strategy, e-safety, building design, how visitors and staff sign in/out, recruitment, behaviour, how we interact with each other, our curriculum and how we work together to keep ourselves and others safe.

Our safeguarding policy and principles are fully embedded in our core school values of Love, Respect, Endeavour, Joy.

As a school, we adopt the robust policies from Kirklees and also the DfE document around Keeping Children Safe In Education.  These can be found on our website.

We have a safeguarding team of 9 staff members.  Their details can be found on the website and on posters around school.  We liaise very closely with Kirklees social care and other externals agencies to help get the very best outcomes and support.

All staff in school receive annual safeguarding training and receive updates and key messages regularly throughout the year.

We actively encourage all children, staff, parents / carers and visitors to report any concerns they may have to a member of the safeguarding team or school staff member to pass on. Our children are encouraged to talk to any member of staff or adult in school to pass on their concerns.

If you have any questions regarding safeguarding in our school, please talk to any member of the safeguarding team.  If you have a concern that you feel needs investigating, please come and talk to us.

Kind Regards

Mr Bendall (Headteacher)
